Hi loves! This post is all about the new additions to my skincare routine this summer: Art Naturals Age Defying Vitamin C Serum, NYX Make Up Setting Spray – Long Lasting Matte Finish and the Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Energising Day Cream with SPF15.
Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Energising Day Cream with SPF15
Summertime means sun time – Okay, I live in England and our annual allowance of sunshine has come and gone but bear with me! It is so so so important to protect your skin in the sun both to prevent skin cancers and wrinkles, sun spots and other forms of hyper-pigmentation. Do not allow the clouds to fool you, UV rays still get through so it is imperative that you use a moisturiser with SPF. Even my dark skinned beauties, I’m NW55 and I do not leave the house without sunscreen! It helps to prevent my dark marks getting any worse.
I’m always stealing my dad’s Nivea Q10 Plus Body Firming Lotion and I love it so I thought I’d check out the face cream version. Now this face cream is thick, creamy and m o i s t u r i s i n g. It is fabulous for those of you with dry or dry/combination skin as it really does leave your skin silky smooth. It’s not the best for oily or oily combination skin as it will have you looking like oil slick within two hours – I learned the hard way! I ended up mixing a sparing amount of this face cream with a few drops of vitamin C serum and it worked pretty well for me. I have oily/combination skin. A little goes a long way and with a price tag of £4.99 for 50ml on Amazon, it’s one of the more affordable face creams too. And it is never too early to start preventing wrinkles!
NYX Make Up Setting Spray – Long Lasting Matte Finish
Okay this isn’t technically a ‘skincare’ product but it is definitely a key addition to my summer beauty kit! The NYX mattifying setting spray has been awesome for my keeping my oily t-zone in check and setting my make up all day long. For those of you with dry skin that like a matte look, it prevents your make up looking cakey and don’t worry oily gals, it sets to a soft matte skin. I also find that setting sprays are refreshing on a hot day so I throw this in my bag and douse myself shamelessly. The spray is also a great budget friendly dupe for my beloved Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray. The Urban Decay spray is waaaay too expensive for my spritz-happy summer self. NYX is now in Boots so you can pick up a bottle for £7. There’s also a dewy version if you’re a little drier.
Art Naturals Vitamin C Age Defying Serum
I am not trying to give you guys a complex about ageing, I promise! This product is just too good to miss off my summer skincare essentials list. Vitamin C is a well known antioxidant meaning it protects your skin from nasty free radicals that want to dim your summertime glow. Vitamin C also helps to promote collagen production (which in theory should help with fine lines) and it boosts cell turnover which is fantastic for those of us with hyper-pigmentation. Vitamin C serums, therefore, are great radiance boosters that go on a clean face before moisturiser and make up to leave your skin glowing to the high heavens.
The Art Naturals Serum is 20% Vitamin C and also contains Hyaluronic Acid. It’s also £10.95 for 30ml which isn’t great for those on a budget. This particular serum comes with a dropper which is very handy as I didn’t expect the serum to be liquid! It’s lightweight and non greasy which excellent for me but it can feel sticky on my skin at times which I don’t really appreciate. There are tons of Vitamin C serums out there so don’t feel obligated to try the Art Naturals one! I would recommend starting with 10% and working your way up.
And those are the three new additions to my summer skincare kit! Skincare can be very individual especially if you’re fairer than I am or if you have drier skin. These three products, however, are definitely summer staples that keep skin safe, healthy and rocking that summer glow. Do you have any summer faves that you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time!
